I am Mari-Yan Pringle, Owner and Voice Instructor of Effectus Arts’ Studio. I am excited to guide you on your journey in singing! My formal training took place at Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia and The Eastman School of Music, ranked the Number One Conservatory of Music in the country—as you can tell, I am a proud alumna! ;o)
One of my goals as a professional musician--whose instrument is voice—is to share my knowledge and wisdom with you. Whether you want to land a solo in an upcoming choir performance or win an audition or competition, I can help. If you are seeking classical training, you may have some questions, but if not, you may be thinking, “You studied OPERA, how will you know what to do to help me?” Well, I’m glad you asked! :o) Although my formal training is in classical music, I have performed both “in front” and “back up” live and in several genre-crossing recordings, namely, the historic Abyssinian Baptist Church’s CD, “One Look at Jesus”; First Church: Bethel African Methodist Episcopal’s “One Church, One Faith, One Lord” CD; as well as the American Spiritual Ensemble’s “The Spirit of the Holidays” CD. I can confidently say that I’ve had such varied experiences because I have worked to establish a strong vocal technique. Rooted in the bel canto tradition, I have worked with leaders in the field that are highly knowledgeable in this approach as well as in Alexander Technique, Feldenkrais and Jo Estill Voice Training. Not sure what all of this means? It basically means: I know how to sing and how to help you sing better! :o)
So, let’s get started. Check out this website to register today! I’m excited about what’s ahead for you and your journey to get there!
Musically Yours,
Mari-Yan
